Working on key art for one of the top grossing films of all time was an exciting proposition. HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER'S STONE was the first Harry Potter film, laying the groundwork for the young wizard's many future adventures.

Working a full year before the film's release, I designed a steady stream of Harry Potter poster "comps" (compositions), teasers, outdoor/print ads, standees, in-theater promos, toys, and every other type of key art advertising one can imagine.

For this international poster concept, I emphasized a darker mood with a blue color scheme and stylized smoke pouring from the Hogwarts Express train. Light hearted expressions from Harry, Hermione, and Ron help offset the dark tone. This image also represents what movie poster designers call: Big Heads Floating in the Sky.
