In The Patriot, Mel Gibson stars as farmer Benjamin Martin who is driven to lead the Colonial Militia during the American Revolution.
For The Patriot soundtrack art, the client Hollywood Records wanted to emphasize the action of the open field battles that highlight the Columbia Pictures film. For the CD inset, I designed a fold-out of the Colonials lined up for battle – opening the full length of the booklet revealed even more soldiers along with an American flag background. The faded and de-saturated color of the flag gives the panorama shot a more historical feel. This treatment also helps tie into the existing movie poster artwork (designed by another agency) used for the soundtrack’s cover.
