"So tell me what you want, what you really really want!" So sayeth the Spice Girls, and in the case of this movie poster, Columbia Pictures.
The client wanted to market SPICE WORLD as being sexy and fun, but not skew too young as far as audiences go -- younger fans would be a case of preaching to the choir.
The original comp of this poster had a different grouping of the girls, with a plain Union Jack background. It was felt that was too static, so a sexier group shot was chosen, and the Union Jack flag was amped up with sequins.
The copy line was obviously inspired by the Beatles, but I prefer the copy used for the ROLLING STONE Ad version of this poster:
IS AMERICA READY FOR ALL FIVE OF THESE GIRLS TO COME AT ONCE?
